Bill, the love of my life and father to my children, was diagnosed with non-aggressive, non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1990 and lost the battle with cancer on July 1, 2007. We would have celebrated our fiftieth wedding anniversary on July 5, 2007. Go here to read a tribute I have written in his memory. Also two of my friends have written poems. I invite you to read them here.
Markela, the oldest of our children, lives in Trussville, Alabama. She is married to Phillip and the mother of two sons, Taylor and Travis. Out of high school, she attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB), on a basketball scholarship, chose a husband from the area and made it her home. She taught school until she was ready to start her family. She then became a stay-at-home mom and homeschooled her boys until they reached junior high level. They have enrolled in public school and Markela is teaching Bible, PE and helping coach the girl's basketball team at a Christian School.
Jackie, our second born, lives in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. She and her husband, Carlos, have one daughter, Carlee. Jackie worked for the state until her daughter was ready to begin school. The childcare problem was such that she chose to become a stay-at-home mom. Jackie is very talented with the paint brush and in her spare time likes to do acrylic paintings. We enjoy our visits to Palm Beach and their visits to Tennessee!
Kyle, the youngest of the family, lives a few miles from me with his wife Tammy and their two children, Hannah and Hollis. Kyle has worked in law-enforcement for the better part of his working career. August 3, 2006 he was elected sheriff of his county.
Jim and I were married Christmas Eve, 2008. He is a retired teacher/coach. Among other things he enjoys playing tennis, camping, kayaking, golf, horses, and motor cycle riding. As you have read his interest, know that life isn't very dull for me. You may read more here.
A house is not a home unless it contains food and fire for the mind as well as the body. ~Author Unknown~
