Step 1: Configure Windows 95 for use with your modem
- If you are sure your modem drivers have been installed correctly but have never had
Internet access before, proceed to Step 2.

- If you have had Internet access on you computer before, go to Step 4.
- To see if Windows 95 already knows about your modem, follow this
sequence:

- If Windows 95 already knows about your modem, you will see it listed in the Modems
Properties dialog box. If not, you will immediately be taken into the Install a New Modem
wizard, which will step you through configuring Windows 95 for use with your modem. Make
sure your modem is turned on and connected before using the wizard.

Step 2: Install Dial-up Networking
- You may already have installed this option during setup, particularly if you installed
Windows 95 on a laptop.
- To see if you already have Dial-up Networking installed, simply
double-click the
icon on your desktop. If you see a folder called
in the window that opens (see below), the option is already installed and
you are ready to move on to Step 3.

To install Dial-up Networking if it's not already present:
- Click

.The Add/Remove Programs
Properties dialog box will appear (see below).

- Click the Windows Setup tab to bring it forward.
- In the list of Components that appears, select Communications; then
click the Details... button. Make sure the Communications checkbox
is checked before you click Details...
A Communications
dialog box will appear (see below).

- On the list of Components that appears, check the Dial-up Networking checkbox.
Then click OK.
- Click the OK button in the previous dialog box.
- Insert the requested floppy disk or CD-ROM. Windows 95 will install the appropriate
files.
